Postcard - The Maple Leaf

The maple leaf is Canada’s national symbol, signifying strength, endurance, and the beauty of nature. It has been used as a symbol of national identity since the early 1800s, long before it became the centrepiece for our national flag in 1965. To outsiders, it represents Canada in a nutshell: trees, politeness, maple syrup. But to us, it’s the blaze of fall colour, the crisp crunch underfoot in October, the badge we display on our backpacks when we travel, and the subdued national pride we wear like a warm toque in winter.
